Net Zero

The net-zero headquarters is located in the historic Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington DC, and is the capital's newest hub for green design. Central to the design of the building is the educational spaces and open mechanical systems that allow visitors to explore the building's green building strategies. Using a water collection system that goes through filtration and PH balancing is set to replenish the headquarters' indoor pond. The existing pond water is used to fertilize the vegetation around the building, as the pond water is nutrient-rich. Water is the building design act as a theatrical, educational, and practical element that creates teachable moments throughout the circulation of the building.
